Hurtful, Hopeless…

Okay, I apologize in advance for the whiny nature of this post, but I simply have to write it.  Politics and elections are hurtful and seem hopeless.  How?

  • When people say they support me as a Christian, homeschooling, stay-at-home mom, small business owner, but then they support a candidate and party who fights against all of those things and can very well take it all away from me, my children, and future generations.
  • Not having a candidate you can wholeheartedly rally behind.
  • Watching candidates dodge issues that are important.
  • Our nation divided.
  • satan deceiving “Christians” into supporting a candidate whose entire record is against God.
  • Lies.
  • The manipulation of God’s Word just for a vote.
  • People who care more about the almighty dollar than issues of eternal consequence.
  • My utmost faith is in God, but I’d like to be able to hold humanity in great regard.  Difficult to do people only care about what material possessions they can selfishly gain by voting for a candidate.
  • Empty campaign promises: Reminds me of the 5th grade class president elections when candidates made campaign promises like candy for lunch and all day recess.
  • Watching people cling to a particular political party because of what the party once stood for.  Neither party is the same as it once was.  We need to cling to God instead.
  • Things that break the heart of God no longer break our hearts, but have become the norm.
  • Wondering what God thinks about a nation who raises up amoral people for their leaders.

I’ve finished whining and ranting now.  It would be nice if I had lots of words of encouragement to outweigh all of the negative in this post.  I am at a loss right now.  I do not have a plethora of words because I don’t have all of the answers.  I know who does have all of the answers–GOD.  We can’t avoid the hurt in this perilous times, but we can avoid the feeling of hopelessness.  Turn to God.  Think about what He would want you to do.  Seek His face and rely on His Word.  Ultimately remember that no matter the outcome here on earth, you are serving Him working with Him and not against Him and His Word, building His kingdom, and you have the hope of eternity.  Jesus, we’re homesick for You and this world is in pretty bad shape.  Help us live in it making a difference without confirming to it, and come quickly–we need you!

Matthew 6:33: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
