For each and every holiday throughout the year, we feel the pull of the world’s version and point-of-view, especially during Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter.  Since we are teaching our children that God should be first and foremost in their hearts and lives, I am always looking for new ways to help them focus on their Heavenly Father.

All of my children love to read, so we typically gift books during the holidays.  We don’t celebrate an “Easter Bunny”, but when our children were little we taught them there was a generous “spirit” of giving during the holidays that reminded us of the generosity and sacrifice of Jesus.  We’ve gifted tons of books over the years.  I thought I’d share some of our favorites with you today!

God Gave Us Easter is a sweet book in which the Cub Family celebrates Easter.  Papa teaches Little Cub about God’s plan for His people and the true meaning of Easter.  Little Cub is such a sweet and gentle spirit.  I get teary-eyed every time I read it!

Okay, as a side note:  The God Gave Us series of books by Bergren are some of our treasured and favorite books.  We have God Gave Us You""“>God Gave Us You, a precious book we’ve read to each of our children about the gift God has given us in them and how they came to be.  They also have a precious book about adoption, God Found Us You (Harperblessings)""“>God Found Us You. When we were expecting our twins, we purchased God Gave Us Two""“>God Gave Us Two.  This was the perfect book for our two older daughters to learn how God blesses families with siblings, and the added bonus was that the polar family was doubly blessed just like ours with a set of boy/girl twin cubs.  Our children adore Christmas book from the series, God Gave Us Christmas""“>God Gave Us Christmas.  When I was looking for God Gave Us Easter, I happened upon this awesome bundle below I just could not pass up.  It is 3 God Gave Us books bundled for only $13.59 and FREE shipping!  I can’t wait to receive ours!

Easter Bunny Are You For Real? by Harold Myra is a wonderful way to switch the focus from a bunny to the Savior.  It tells the story of a family, who notices the world around them focusing on an “Easter Bunny”, dying eggs, chocolate, etc.  The parents teach the children the connection between spring, bunnies, flowers, new life, and the true meaning of Easter.  Instead of an Easter Bunny it  references a “Spring Bunny” and the small role he plays in the true meaning of Easter.

The Easter Story This book is an excellent source for teaching children about Easter in a gentle tone.  It outlines the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, the Lord’s Supper, and the crucifixion and resurrection.

The Parable of the Lily by Liz Higgs is the story of a little girl who receives a lily as a gift.  It is not exactly the gift she wanted and in the beginning she doesn’t really appreciate it.  However as the story transpires the gift turns into something beautiful from someone very special.  She learns about forgiveness, grace, and the beauty of Easter.

Praying you and your children will always know and cherish the true meaning of Easter deep in your hearts and that you will share the gospel with others.

I usually purchase these books from our local Christian bookstore.   However, when I was on my Amazon account I saw that they are on sale cheaper than my local bookstore and they have FREE shipping. If you click on the pictures or links for any of these books you’ll be directed to my Amazon store.  These are affiliate links.  Your cost will be exactly what is quoted on Amazon, but Motherhood – Ruckus & Rubies will receive a small commission.  We appreciate your support!
