UGH! It’s Monday…Need some encouragement?

For most people, Monday is the most dreaded day of the week.  You’ve just finished your weekend and it’s back to the vicious routine of the busy week.  Mondays usually start off rocky because you’re dreading the chaos that may await.  You’re running late and you have a long list of things that need to be done this week, not to mention all of the additional tasks that are stacked on top of the already towering piles of things to do each day.

Well, you know I am an odd ball, so let me reveal another strange bit of trivia about me:  Mondays are one of my favorite days of the week.  I know, I know–you think I’ve lost my mind.  That’s alright.  I’m used to being the different one in the bunch.  Let me explain why I love Mondays:

  • Mondays are sometimes the end of a long holiday weekend (like today for some).  Not for us, but that’s okay!
  • I’ve just spent the previous day worshipping my Heavenly Father, so I’m refreshed, renewed, and armed with ammunition with which to attack the enemy during my week.
  • While the rest of the world is scurrying around on Mondays, we have the honor and blessing of homeschooling which affords us the privilege of slowing down on Mondays.  We try not to schedule any extra curricular activities, meetings, etc. on Mondays because I know for the world those are tough days.  Some of what happens may affect my Monday as well, so I keep the schedule closed to anything outside influences that may put a damper on our Monday.  Pray in faith and ask God to help you take command of your schedule from outside influences.  He’ll reveal many ways you can change your home and family life to make Mondays more bearable.
  • Mondays are our most productive school days.  Since we don’t have activities on Mondays, we do the majority of our school work on Mondays.  When we have something later in the week that may crowd our school schedule or make it difficult to complete our work, we work ahead on Monday to have a cushion in our schedule later in the week.
  • Since their aren’t activities on Mondays, this leaves extra time after school to spend with my blessings.  It’s our way of starting the week of right by making each other a priority.  When we do that in the beginning of the week, it blesses each one of us.  It also helps us try to make it a priority every day.
  • Mondays are a chance to start fresh and new with God’s promises, giving us a chance to see Him work in our lives.  There may be challenges, but more importantly on Mondays there are chances to strengthen our resolve, endurance, and faith.
I’ll share some scripture to encourage you:

Isaiah 43:1-2
Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name: You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire you shall not be burned. Nor shall the flame scorch you.
Romans 5:5
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God.
1 Peter 5:6-7
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
Deuteronomy 33:27
The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.
Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
When difficulties engulf you, come back to these 10 encouraging Bible verses for hard times. Pray through them, absorb God’s peace and know that He is always with you.
