Wise Tip Wednesday – Be Adventurous & Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake THM Recipe

Intimidation is the first thing I used to think of when I was trying to make a change in my life.  It can be a daunting task.  For most of us, we want someone to babysit us through life.  It would be so much easier if we just had a simple list of do’s and don’ts we could follow for every situation.  We want everything spelled out to us.  NEWSFLASH: Life does not work that way!  That is exactly what I liked about many of the fad diets and fasts I tried.  Every morsel was perfectly spelled out and listed down to exactly what time I should pop it in my mouth. 

Now that I’m approaching the big 4-0, I’m becoming more confident in my God-given gifts and abilities.  I have loads of examples of how God has empowered me to tackle many tasks.  I’ve decided I really don’t want so much rigidity in my life.  Now, don’t get me wrong–laws, rules, and guidelines are important and we all need them.  They are for our protection, particularly God’s Word.  However, God does give us freedom within His safe parameters.

That is what I LOVE about Trim Healthy Mama.  It is NOT a fad diet.  It is a faith-based lifestyle change.  There are parameters put in place for our health, but there is freedom within the parameters.  I have been on the plan since October, 2013 so I have tried many of the recipes and I there aren’t many that I don’t like.  I’m getting more confident with the plan now so I feel comfortable tweaking many of the THM recipes.  You can do it, too!  Simply think of all of the different flavors and textures you enjoy and adapt some of the recipes.  As long as you stay within the parameters of no sugar, no tandem fuel sources, and no starchy veggies, you should be fine!

Yesterday I shared with you my Mint Chocolate Brownie Tummy Tucking Ice Cream recipe.  Today, I’d like to share my adaptation of the Basic Cheesecake recipe found on page 373.  Sorry the picture has two pieces of the cheesecake missing.  We got carried away and forgot to take the picture first!  

Chocolate Peanut Butter Basic Cheesecake THM (S)
Follow steps 1-3 page 373 Basic Cheesecake THM recipe
Add 2 tablespoons cocoa and mix for 3-5 minutes.  Pour batter into lightly greased baking dish.  Drop 3-4 spoonsful of all natural sugar free peanut butter on top.  Drag a knife through the peanut butter to swirl into the batter.  Bake on 350 for approximately 30 minutes.  Allow cheesecake to cool completely.  As an optional garnish, you could do what I did.  I melted a piece of THM Skinny Chocolate (p371) and drizzled it over the top of the cheesecake.


My sweet husband even liked it, which is saying a lot.  Keep praying for me – I’m slowly wearing him and my children down!!  If I can win him over, then I should have no trouble getting the rest of them on board the THM plan.  Enjoy the cheesecake!  Be adventurous, and please feel free to share some of your recipe tweaks with me!
